Adoption update: “Hi, I just wanted to let you know that Queso the parakeet has settled in really, really well here in his new home. We renamed him Butters from South Park because he’s such a sweet unassuming guy. His friend (Stewie) welcomed him with open wings and they spend the days playing, preening, eating and relaxing together (when they aren’t chirping along to whatever music or TV show we’re listening to). Queso/Butters has acclimated to his new diet of Harrison’s organics with some Dr. Harvey’s seed to help ease the transition, and he gets to watch all the other birds outside as they visit our front yard. He seems genuinely happy and healthy per all reports. I just wanted to send this so you all know that what you do there at SFACC matters. Queso/Butters has genuinely brought extra joy to our home and you made that happen with all you do for our animal family members. THANK YOU!!”

Adoption update: “Goomba was adopted in May 2024, and he’s turning three years old this month. We’re celebrating his birthday today (Aug. 15) on World Lizard Day. He’s fully settled into his new home and continues to impress us with his bold personality and expressive nature. With a little observation, it’s easy to pick up on his subtle but clear ways of communicating. The more time we spend together, the more I’ve come to appreciate just how intelligent and thoughtful he is.
He’s also quite the adventurer. During the warmer months, Goomba loves getting outside to explore. Some of his favorite places include Dolores Park and Crissy Field, and he’s often seen roaming through parks all around the San Francisco Bay Area. His absolute favorite activity is investigating gopher holes. He takes his time sniffing around and carefully examining each one like a curious little detective. He is mostly housebroken and can get a bit antsy to go on walks, but that just shows how much he enjoys being outside.
Goomba even has his own stickers. If you happen to spot him at the park, be sure to ask for one.”
