Raise the Woof Raffle for ACC’s New Building
A sincere thank you to ALL who bought and sold tickets for the Raise the Woof Raffle, which raised $7,500 toward the campaign for the new shelter! Thanks also to Triple Voodoo Brewery & Tap Room in Dogpatch (2245 3rd St., SF) for hosting the prize-draw party on April 19. The tavern generously provided space to set up the raffle drum and donated $1 of every pint of delicious craft beer. Congratulations to Jack Hodges, who won the grand prize of Virgin America airfare for two. For those who stayed until the bitter end, a surprise must-be-present-to-win prize—a second Virgin America voucher—was won by Christine Smith (a Triple Voodoo employee). Special thanks to Patricia Aleman and Ashley Oreta, who arranged for Triple V. to host.
Three ACC volunteers don their door-prize hats.
Annual Friends of SFACC Rescue Grant Awards
The ACC shelter could not rescue and rehome or release as many animals as it does without the help of its many local adoption/rescue partners. Each year, Friends of SFACC awards small grants to the most critical helpers, based on the number of animals pulled from the shelter, the degree of difficulty (whether for medical or other reasons), and the need of the organization. This year, 22 rescues were given grants of $500-2,000, presented by FSFACC board members Jane Lee, Andrea Gremer, Althea Kippes. The stories coming from each group are different but a common thread runs through all of them: dedication to saving animals. Thank you for helping ACC!
*Special thanks to Pet Food Express for donating $100 gift certificates for each rescue and dog-wash tokens.
