January 2026

What better way to ring in the new year than a great adoption update? Tuxie boy Johnny arrived at our shelter after being hit by a car. He recovered well, but for a while his mouth’s resting position was partly open. Happily that was resolved after a few weeks. Johnny was adopted in early December and is loving his new home, as you can see. He even sleeps snuggled up with his new sister Terra every night.

Update: Chubby Cubby was adopted in November 2024 and just enjoyed her second Christmas with her forever family. “Chubby’s been a great addition to our family. Well loved by everyone! She’s lost 30 lbs since her adoption and has so much more energy.” Cubby is chubby no more!

Handsome Dobie Apollo got adopted before we even had a chance to post him. He now has a Boxer sister who’s also an SFACC grad. What a great start to the new year!

Update: “Can you believe it’s been 4 whole years since I found my humans? Time flies when you’re having a paw-some time! Life here is absolutely pawsitively amazing! I’ve trained my humans well—they shower me with treats, belly rubs, and endless love.
I have some senior age challenges, but nobody would guess my real age (no grey hair!). My heart is still very young! Every day is an adventure filled with nap times, smiles, walks with my energetic puppy sister and sniffing every tree in the neighborhood!
Have a wonderful holidays and thank you for taking care of me before I found my forever home! Yours sincerely, Kayah.”

Low rider Limbo just shimmied her way out of the shelter with her adopter.

Ele the cat came to the shelter after our animal control officers got a call on our emergency dispatch about a cat meowing loudly in an apartment building near the elevator. They found the cat in the bottom of the elevator shaft, visible only through a crack. Her adopter is the elevator technician who came out and helped us get her from beneath the elevator. Ele was injured: she had a pelvis fracture and badly broken right leg. Our vet team amputated the injured leg and now she’s off to her forever home!

Let’s finish up the year with a fantastic update! When senior tuxie Bruce arrived at our earlier shelter this year, he wasn’t in good shape: He was very thin, his coat was patchy and he had sores and his teeth were terrible. None of that dimmed his fabulous personality. After he had time to gain weight, get a dental, and feel better, Bruce was available for adoption. He was adopted in just a couple of days! An update: “Hello, Bruce’s adopter here, Sorry I took so long to post an update, but I’m happy to report that Bruce is doing wonderfully.
He got comfortable quickly in his new home, and is super happy and affectionate. His favorite thing to do it to sit on people any way he can, laps, arms, face, he just loves cuddling up and sleeping on top of someone. He also adores being petted for hours at a time, he won’t let you stop.
The little guy goes crazy for food, and will devour anything edible. His missing teeth don’t seem to bother him at all. His fur is growing back nicely, and his sores have healed up too. I’m honored to have him with me, he’s a real treasure.”

Victoria is now living her best life attending college with her person, a club ‘supervisor’ and alerting her person before a seizure happens. Oh! she’s the ‘it’ girl on campus too.”
